Minimize Your Pores From Home

If you ever look at yourself too closely in the mirror, the large number of pores on your face may stand out. The skin on the human face has thousands of pores, and sometimes they appear more prominent.

The cause of large pores can range from age, genetics or skin problems. People with genetically thick or oily skin develop large pores more often than people with thin or dry skin, and aging causes pores to become larger when the skin loses its natural elasticity.

Pores expand when they become clogged with dirt and oil, as seen in individuals affected by acne.  Sometimes its hard to remember that they are there for a good reason.  Without them our bodies wouldn’t be able to sweat and would easily overheat, so we might as well take care of them.

Regardless of cause, here is a house hold remedy that helps minimize the appearance of large pores when used regularly.  Remember: your pores are nothing more than small openings in the skin.  They don’t have muscles and cannot open or close, so what you are doing is minimizing their appearance.

Things You’ll Need

    1 egg white
    Large mixing bowl
    Wire whisk
    1 tbsp. old-fashioned oatmeal
    1 fresh lemon
    Light moisturizer

    Tips and Warnings

-Use an electric beater on low speed to beat the egg white if you don’t have a wire whisk. Although freshly squeezed lemon juice is recommended, you can use bottled juice if you don’t have a fresh lemon on hand. Repeat the pore minimizer treatment once or twice a week to keep pores tight, and to reduce their appearance.
-For the best results, do not use instant or steel-cut oatmeal.

      Step 1
Place an egg white into a large mixing bowl.  Egg whites tighten the pores and prevent them from becoming clogged.

      Step 2
Whisk the egg white vigorously with a wire whisk until frothy, about two to three minutes. Add the oatmeal to the beaten egg white, and stir well to combine. Scrape the sides of the bowl as needed.

      Step 3
Cut a lemon in half, and squeeze until you have about 1 tbsp. of juice. Add the juice to the egg and oatmeal mixture, and stir again until the ingredients are thoroughly combined.

      Step 4
Apply a thin layer of the mixture to your face, covering all of your enlarged pores. Relax in a comfortable position for about 20 minutes, allowing the mixture to penetrate your skin.

      Step 5
Rinse off the egg mixture with warm water, and rinse again with cold water to close the pores. Follow the treatment with a light moisturizer to prevent dryness.
