Biosanes founders Nanci and Faryn got the chance to participate in Modu Seye’s ModuVated boot camp! While they were staying fit they shared a few Magic Cookies with Modu and he loved them! He liked them so much that he did a Q&A for us. Check out what he has to say!
What do you like best about Biosanes’ Magic Cookies?
“…They are a super food, low in Calories, and a healthy Grab-and-go meal. I work a lot so I make sure I pack a snack before I step out of the house…”
What inspired you to live a physically active life?
“I worked in the IT field for seven years but I I knew there was something missing in my life–until I completely switched to fitness. I’ve always been a sports fanatic, and I feel the need to help people—that’s what pulled me into the fitness industry.”
What would you tell a friend who thinks they don’t have time to work out?
“If it’s a priority for you, you will find time for it…You have one body to live in and you have to take of care it! When it comes to losing weight or gaining muscle, don’t look at how far you have to go. Just take things one day at the time. Before you know it, you will be able to look back and see just how far you have come.”
Do you prefer instructing people in a one-on-one setting, or in a group?
“I love teaching group classes…I find that the group setting provides friendly competition, a support system that encourages you to show up, and it pushes you further than you would go alone. The group even motivates me! I may be their trainer, but I see them as my work partners. Sometimes I get there a bit tired or don’t feel like doing the class—but when a group of clients is waiting for me to lead them, the best of me has to come out.”
What are some of your favorite meals?
“Oatmeal, tuna sandwiches, chicken breast, and a salad every other day. I tend to eat the same thing day in and day out. I also drink a lot of green tea.”
What is your favorite workout?
“I like something fast-paced with short rests. For instance, when I started my bootcamp, it was just my workout. People started asking if they could join and that’s how my bootcamp became a business. It’s a team effort for a total body work out that only uses your own body weight, over a short period of time. Plus, training on the beach while witnessing a beautiful sunrise every day is just the best.”
What is your favorite (best or worst) workout story?
“For my worst, I would say my first client’s workout session. Oh man, I almost killed them! There was a girl who was ready to pass out half-way into our workout. I always have high expectations for myself, but after that I learned that people are different. The best part of my job is when my clients become some of my closest friends.”
People have different goals when it comes to their fitness level. What is the most sought after fitness goal that you notice people seeking to achieve?
“Eating habits. It all comes down to calorie consumption and calorie expenditure.”
- First, find your BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate). From there you can determine your daily calorie intake. It’s not just about going to the gym or working out with a trainer for an hour. You have twenty-three hours of the day on your own, so if you don’t discipline yourself you’ll most likely never reach your goals.
- Second, plan your meals ahead of time and make a grocery list. Once you are at the grocery, make sure to choose lower calorie ingredients.
- Third, avoid skipping meals because you will tend to over-eat later. Make sure you have healthy snacks available at your home that you can take with you on the go.
